Best time for Gorilla trekking
All year round, gorilla tracking in Bwindi impenetrable forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks is always open also in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.
The best times for gorilla trekking are during June, July, August, and September, as well as December, January, and February. During these periods, gorilla trekking is much easier due to the dry season, resulting in relatively drier habitats. This makes it more manageable for travelers to hike into the dense forest jungles and navigate the steep slopes in search of mountain gorillas. While March, April, May, October, and November are also suitable for gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda, they are characterized by heavy rainfall, leading to muddy and slippery steep slopes, which can make the hike more challenging.
