Rushaga region has the biggest number of gorilla families second to Buhoma in the northern part of Bwindi impenetrable national park some of the gorilla families include Nshongi, Bweza, Rwigi, Mishaya, Busingye, Kahungye, Bikingi, and Mucunguzi making it the area with the most number of gorilla permits in the whole of Bwindi impenetrable national park.
The Rushaga gorilla region is the only place in Bwindi where you can experience gorilla habituation experience which is spending 4 hours with mountain gorillas that are under habituation process.
How to get to Rushaga by Air
Rushaga gorilla region is located about 2 hours from the Kisoro airstrip located in Kisoro town and flights from Entebbe international airport depart on schedule or charter daily to Kisoro and clients then will take a 4×4 vehicle transfer to the lodge of their choice.
How is the gorilla trekking experience in the Rushaga gorilla region?
The gorilla trekking in Rushaga is relatively easy compared to the neighboring Nkuringo region which has one of the best experiences when it comes to hiking in the whole of Bwindi impenetrable national park, the uphills and downhills are relatively manageable and according to our past guest experiences, the treks in Rushaga take between 2-8 hours.

The best time to trek mountain gorillas in the Rushaga region is during the dry season in Uganda which is usually from June to September and from December to February when the trails are relatively dry and gorilla trekking is easier.
