The drive time from Kigali to Ruhija where you will trek gorillas is only between 4-5 hours as opposed to the 8-9 hours’ drive from Entebbe to Ruhija. So, you can fly into Kigali Rwanda to meet your guide instead of flying into Entebbe International Airport. By tracking gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, you will be saving USD900.00 off each person as opposed to tracking gorillas in Rwanda.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: pick up from Kigali international airport/lodge

Safari vacations and travel services driver/guide will pick up from Kigali International Airport/Any Hotel in Kigali to start your ‘3-day Uganda Gorilla Safari’ journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The journey is very scenic as it takes you through a country of ‘a thousand hills’ to ‘the Pearl of Africa’.

You cross over to Uganda at the Katuna or Chanika boarder with a stop at Kabale town (when you cross from Katuna border) or Kisoro (when you cross from Chanika border) before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for overnight.
Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge or Trekkers Tavern Lodge Forest.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest national park

After breakfast, you will walk to the Park Headquarters with your packed lunch for briefing about gorilla trekking. Your guide will take you through all the Dos and Don’ts while with the mountain gorillas. Thereafter, you will be transferred to the starting point to begin your trek into the forest to look for the gorilla family you have been assigned.

Note that;

Your guide will consider your interests, fitness, and age when allocating you to a gorilla family.
You can inform your guide about your preferences, and they will try to arrange for you to visit the specific gorilla family of your choice before commencing the trek into the forest.
Gorilla trekking demands a certain level of fitness due to its strenuous nature.
Be prepared for gorilla trekking to last anywhere from 30 minutes to three quarters of the day.
Your guide will share information about the trees, birds, and other wildlife in the forest as you make your way to a particular gorilla family.
You will have a strictly allotted one-hour time frame to observe the gorillas and capture photographs of their daily activities. Afterward, you’ll trek back to the park headquarters to collect certificates confirming your gorilla tracking experience in Uganda.
Following the trek, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and spend the night.
Accommodation options include the Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge or Trekkers Tavern Lodge.

Day 3: Drive back to Kigali Airport

Drive to Kigali Airport

After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali International Airport for your flight. And this will mark the end of your 3 Day Rwanda-Uganda gorilla safari.
