Where to go for adrenaline adventures in Uganda

Jinja town is one of the major destinations you can visit in Uganda to enjoy the Uganda adrenaline safaris. Jinja town offers the most exhilarating, and amazing adrenaline adventures. Most of these activities mainly take place at the source of the Nile. Consequently, most people refer to Jinja as the adrenaline capital of East Africa.  Murchison Falls National Park also has a few other adrenaline activities you will enjoy.

These include the hike to the top of the falls; the Murchison Falls, which are the most powerful waterfalls in the world. Also, Lake Mburo National Park will have you enjoy some adventurous activities. These include horseback riding and cycling among others. Hiking to the top of mountain Rwenzori will give you a great adventure. The same applies to Elgon mountain climbing among other mountaineering activities. To note, the hot air balloon experience can also be added to your Uganda adrenaline safari “to-do” list.

What to do for the Uganda Adrenaline Safari

There is such a long list of activities you can enjoy for the adrenaline safari in Uganda. Some activities will be off for the children However, others will allow you to enjoy time with your entire family and friends. The fact is, for whatever, be it the wild water rafting, kayaking, fun family voyages, and exhilarating scenic views, there is all you need to add to your adrenaline safari to Uganda. The following are some of the activities you can add to your Uganda adrenaline safari itinerary;

White water rafting

Whitewater rafting is one of the top activities on the list of things to go for while on a Uganda adrenaline safari. White water rafting in Uganda only takes place at the source of the Nile, in Jinja town. Many mainly prefer the grade five experience and refer to it as the most adrenaline-raising experience. However, even the inexperienced rafter can enjoy white water rafting on the Nile. White water rafting on the Nile offers you a chance to feel the energy of the Nile River.

You feel it from its source on Lake Victoria in Jinja. The first grades, 1 to 3, are simple sailing phases that you can enjoy with all your family. They are also the most suitable if you are trying white water rafting for the first time.  Grades 4 and 5 are stronger rapids towards the Itanda Falls along the Nile in Jinja. They are usually challenging grades, however, most adventurous.

Bungee jumping

If bungee jumping is part of your adrenaline safari list, it is the right activity to help you challenge your fears. Bungee jumping is a chance for you to get exhilarated as you fall from a great height and touch the waters of the Nile. Bungee jumping mainly occurs at the Nile resort’s source in Jinja, and Bujagali Falls.  The upside view of the Nile River and the tree canopies might make your fall interesting. From a height of about 44m, you fall freely facing the Nile below. It is the kind of activity to challenge your height phobia and the right way to get some adrenaline rising.

Kayaking

If you do not get there during rafting, then kayaking is another way for you to enjoy the Nile waters. The difference between white water rafting and kayaking is, for kayaking you will enjoy alone with no team. You can hype your experience on the rapids. Alternatively, you can paddle leisurely along the first grades of flat waters on the Nile River.  Despite the private paddling, there is a rescue team to watch over you. this helps to ensure that you have an enjoyable kayaking experience on the Nile.

River surfing

This is yet another adrenaline activity to enjoy on your Uganda safari in Jinja. River surfing in Uganda only takes place at the source of the Nile in Jinja. The 8 water rapids of the Nile will take you through the Nile River surfing. This offers you a chance to challenge your experience such as paddling, and swimming among others.  The river surfing trip will entail some riverboarding in the first grades and later mixed with rafting during the fastest 5th and 8th grades. The river surfing package comes along with a safety raft, kayakers, and experienced photographers. These work as a team to ensure a memorable experience. There is nothing to worry about as you will first go through safety training before hitting the Nile River’s furious waters.  To take caution, children below 14 years, cannot enjoy river surfing on the Nile.

Boat cruises

The boat cruises are other adventurous activities you can add to your Uganda adrenaline safaris. From the Nile River source in Jinja, it starts with slow grades. However, later along the river course, the rapids keep on increasing, and later settle down again. The Nile boat cruise in Jinja can take place at the source of the Nile. Here, you get to enjoy the water from the river bank to the island. You also get to see the point of the source of the Nile, where you can enjoy the crafts shopping and then sail back. The other point for the boat cruise in Jinja is the former Bugajali Falls which is a newly formed Bujagali Lake; between the Bujagali dam and Owen Falls dam in Jinja. The River Nile boat cruise in Jinja offers you a chance to see the sunset and the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Another Nile boat cruise takes place during the safari to Murchison Falls National Park. From the source, the Nile River moves northwards and separates Murchison Falls National Park into two parts; Chobe and Paara. The bottom cruise moves towards the bottom of Murchison Falls and offers you great wildlife viewing sessions. And from the bottom of the falls, the boat cruise will take you to the Albert Delta. This is the point where the Nile enters Lake Albert. The morning Nile downstream boat cruise in Murchison Falls National Park offers you a chance to see the prehistoric shoe bill stork bird.

Other Uganda adrenaline safari activities include;

Sport fishing in Murchison Falls National Park

Zip-lining Mabira forest

Quad biking
