Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Our assigned driver will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali. Early arrivals can take an optional tour around Kigali city and the surrounding areas.

Day 2: Transfer to Bukavu city, DR Congo
In the morning, you will be picked up by your driver from your hotel in Kigali and driven southwards to the Cyangugu border on the way to Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, and the Rwanda genocide memorial site. After a hot lunch, you will continue on a scenic journey to Bukavu with wonderful views of the hills in Rwanda through the tropical forest of Nyungwe National Park and a clear view of Lake Kivu.

Day 3: Lowland gorilla tracking tour in Kahuzi-Biega
In the morning, you will head for the memorable adventure of tracking gorillas in Kahuzi-Biega National Park. Tracking lowland gorillas is very amazing. Lowland gorillas differ from mountain gorillas; the lowland gorillas are bigger, usually takes 1-4 hours to track them. The lowland gorillas stay in bigger families as compared to the mountain gorillas; you will not regret the safari efforts once you meet the amazing gorillas! Later in the afternoon, drive back to your hotel.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park and canopy walk
Have an early morning breakfast and connect to Bukavu, crossing into Rwanda via Cyangugu and proceeding to Nyungwe National Park. Here, you will embark on a 2-hour hike along the canopy walkway, a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you, and thereafter connecting to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trek and transfer to Kigali
Enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees. The chimpanzees are much easier to spot as they jump from tree to tree, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about hours. On finding them, spend an hour taking pictures and videos. You will then return to your hotel. Freshen up and have lunch. Lastly, you will embark on a 5-hour drive to Kigali to end the safari.
