Thunderstorms are possible at any time of the year, but it is advisable to avoid the onset of the April/May rainy season.

How is fishing done in Murchison Falls?

What methods do we use for fishing?

We highly recommend a rod between 11 ft (3 meters) and 8 ft (2.4 meters) jointly with a fixed spool or multiplier reel. For smaller species, a 9.7’ spinning rod with a 5g (10 lb) lure is ideal.
Reels. For Nile perch and catfish, any reel fixed spool or multiplier with 30 – 35 lblme (17kg) will work. It clings to personal preference and skill with a multiplier and for tiger fish and other small species, any reel that can comfortably assist you cast small spinners is proper.

Use of boat on the Nile with the fishing guide services, lunch, drinking water, fuel, and use of fishing equipment with us is to deposit fee per rod paid before departure (this is refunded less any damaged equipment).
What is excluded?
National park entry fees at $40 each day, national park fishing fees of $40 – $50 per day, (depending on the number of days fishing and these are payable directly to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
Minimum and maximum number of anglers on a boat on fishing trips and safaris in Uganda
A minimum of one is acceptable but a maximum of 4 anglers can do fishing on one fishing boat though they must be experts the recommended number is 2 anglers on a fishing boat.
What must I park for my fishing trip?
Since there are no shops within the park, it’s imperative to come prepared with all necessary supplies. This includes items like suntan lotion, cigarettes, medications, spare batteries for electronic devices and cameras, as well as mosquito spray. We continue to advise that you bring as much sun protection as you can that is; hats, creams, and sunglasses as it tends to be so hot.
Safari/hiking boats are ideal for footwear mostly for shore fishing from the steep and rough rocks.
