Detailed Itinerary of the 7 Days Rwanda Congo Gorillas and Mountaineering Safari

Day 1: Journey to Volcanoes National Park

Your driver/guide will pick you up from the hotel and provide a briefing before setting off for Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, soak in the breathtaking scenery of Rwanda’s rolling hills and lush greenery. Upon arrival at Volcanoes National Park, check in at your chosen lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters early in the morning. Ensure you have packed lunch, sufficient drinking water, trekking gear, and necessary accessories like hats and gloves. Receive a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and regulations from park rangers before embarking on your jungle adventure. Spend an unforgettable hour observing a designated gorilla family in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for refreshments and in the afternoon, take a village walk to the Iby’wacu Cultural Community. This will let you immerse yourself in Rwandese culture. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the same lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way, visit the Murambi Genocide Memorial Site and the Nyanza King’s Palace. Thus, you’ll experience the rich history and culture of Rwanda. Also, Marvel at the picturesque hills and lush vegetation during the journey to Nyungwe National Park.

Day 6: Nyiragongo Hiking

Henceforth, enjoy and enjoy stunning views overlooking Virunga National Park. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at mountain camp tents.

Day 7: Descending to the Bottom

Enjoy breakfast at the summit before descending to the bottom. There, your driver will be waiting to transport you to Kigali. Complete check-out procedures at the park office before heading to Kigali town for lunch and onward departure to the airport.
